Anxiety and Depression

Sound familiar?

I’m worried all the time…
The smallest things irritate me…
I just can’t fall asleep…

Why can’t I do anything right…
I’m lonely but I want to be left alone…

My heart races and I panic…
Life seems overwhelming…

I can’t concentrate…
I feel so worthless…

I’m so tired…
I’m always sad…

Is this my new normal?

When anxiety or depression knocks…

Life seems empty. You feel like a shell of your former self.

You may be suffering from anxiety or depression.

Sometimes, a specific incident or life situation may cause these feelings, but they can also come out of nowhere, from the inside out, with no apparent rhyme or reason.

How do I know if I’m anxious or depressed?

Even though they’re different, anxiety and depression share quite a few symptoms. Since they often occur together, it’s possible.

If you’re struggling with anxiety, you might be exhausted by excessive worry or dread related to your job, health, family, or various other things. You also could be experiencing frequent muscle tension, restlessness, irritability, and hyper-awareness of what’s going on around you. It’s impossible to relax, and there’s just no peace.

If you’re suffering from depression, you might find that you can’t enjoy the things you used to love and aren’t able to get motivated. You could be feeling guilty or worthless because you can’t seem to accomplish anything anymore.

You might also notice that your brain feels foggy, you’re having difficulty concentrating, your energy is low, and you feel sad and down for extended periods – so down that you’re sleeping a lot and can’t get out of bed in the morning. Or you might have the opposite problem and not be able to sleep at all.

It’s such a heavy burden.

Even talking about it – merely trying to put it into words – can feel overwhelming.

Finding joy in the little things is challenging, your relationships suffer from a deep sadness you can’t seem to shake, and happiness seems impossible to find.

You can’t take a single step without jumping at your own shadow, fearing what could be right around the corner.

You wonder if you’ll ever be yourself again. Sometimes, you’re even tempted to give up – but don’t!
