FAQ

Where is your office?

My office is conveniently located south of the Woodlands Mall, just one block in from the southbound feeder at the following address:

26205 Oak Ridge Drive

Suite 107

The Woodlands, TX 77380

How long are your sessions?

Regular sessions are 50 minutes long (leaving 10 minutes to record therapy notes at the end.)
Double sessions are 100 minutes* (leaving 20 minutes to record therapy notes at the end.)

*100 minute sessions can be beneficial if topics to discuss are complex, or when more than one person is attending (e.g. couples or families).

What are your office hours?

I understand that not everyone has the freedom to attend therapy during the day, so I’ve arranged my schedule to be as flexible as possible both for those who want to meet during the workday and for students and professionals who need early morning, late afternoon, evening or weekend hours.

Tuesday:   11:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Thursday:   8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Friday:    8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Saturday:   8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

*When helpful, I can sometimes make special arrangements to meet outside of my regular office hours. I also offer extended weekend sessions for couples or families, which can be scheduled for between two to four hours.

Do you offer Virtual Sessions?
Yes, absolutely! I use a very high-quality video program called Telehealth by Simple Practice for my virtual sessions. It’s completely HIPAA-compliant to protect your privacy and ensure your confidentiality.
Can I bypass the phone consultation and just schedule an appointment through your contact page?

I love the phone consultation because it’s our first opportunity to connect and start to get to know each other, and it can do so much to put you at ease!

I’ll ask you to help me understand why you’re seeking therapy, and invite you to share a bit about what’s going on with you. As we talk, you’ll get a sense of who I am, how I respond to you, and whether I seem like someone you feel comfortable with.

So since the phone consultation is such an important part of your intake experience, I usually don’t set up appointments until after we’ve had a chance to talk.

Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, I am currently considered an “Out-Of-Network” provider. But if your policy provides Out-Of-Network mental health benefits, I can give you the documentation you need to receive reimbursement for any Out-Of-Network benefits named in your policy.
Can I use my insurance even though you’re out of network?

Many clients have excellent out-of-network benefits! To find out if you can be reimbursed for a portion of your fees, call the number on the back of your insurance card to speak with someone who can tell you if your policy includes Out-Of-Network mental health benefits.

If it does, I will happily provide you with a Superbill with the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?
I require a full 24 hour cancellation notice for clients to avoid paying the full fee for a cancelled session. Unfortunately, the frequent inability to fill late cancelled appointments renders this policy absolutely necessary. However, if a client is able to reschedule to a different time during the same week, I am happy to waive the cancellation fee for that late cancelled appointment.
What is therapy, anyway?
In a nutshell, I would describe therapy as the process of working through losses, hurts, and struggles that interfere with your well-being. It’s a journey toward wholeness that unfolds in a unique way for each person. The end goal is for you to experience healing from something that feels wrong or broken in you or your life.
Will therapy be awkward?

Maybe at first, but not for long. After our phone consultation, you should have a good idea of what talking with me will be like. Feeling safe and accepted during the first session without being dismissed or judged usually brings great relief.

Your level of comfort is a vital part of the healing process, so we’ll work together to set a pace that feels right for you. You’re always in control and can adjust the direction and tempo of your progress at any time.

Is there any paperwork to do before I start therapy?
Yes, I will send intake forms to you electronically after you schedule your first appointment.
How long does therapy take?

That’s a great question, but difficult to answer. Your healing journey is unique because you’re unlike anyone else in the world.

It depends on what you’re dealing with, how much emotional support you have outside therapy, the changes you want to make, and how much time you have to devote to the healing process.

If you’re focused on your goals and relate to a particular situation, the length of therapy can be quite brief – 4 to 6 sessions. Healing from trauma, addressing relationship or family issues, and coping with ongoing challenges like anxiety or depression can take longer.

Are you from Texas?
No, I was born and raised in Michigan, then moved to northern Texas from the Chicago area. I miss crisp autumn days and white winter nights but have come to love bluebonnets and Bluebell!
How would your closest friends describe you in two words, and why?

They might describe me as “compulsively authentic,” because I like to jump to the point in the conversation where we talk about what we’re really feeling…
